Scientific Collaboration and Community Service

As part of its ongoing scientific collaboration and commitment to community service, a team from the Nanomaterials Research Center, led by the center’s director, conducted a field visit to the city of Heet. The purpose of the visit was to assess the environmental challenges confronting the city, specifically those arising from the emission of gases and the discharge of contaminated water originating from sulfur and tar springs. These environmental hazards have been observed to adversely affect both the ecosystem and the health and economic well-being of local residents, particularly those residing in close proximity to the affected areas.

During the visit, a discussion session was convened with the Mayor of Heet and representatives from the city’s Environment Directorate. The session facilitated a comprehensive dialogue regarding the nature and extent of the environmental problems. Furthermore, the Nanomaterials Research Center proposed its willingness to undertake a detailed study aimed at identifying and implementing effective solutions to mitigate the negative impacts associated with these environmental issues
